Currency rates 19 August 2026: how much the dollar, euro and zloty cost

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) published the official currency rates for Wednesday morning, 19 August 2026. Compared with 18 August, the zloty weakened, while the dollar and the euro strengthened. This was reported by “Glavkom.”

The regulator set the official dollar rate at 44,77, the euro at 51,83 UAH, and the Polish zloty at 11,99 UAH.

Over the week the euro and the British pound appreciated. At the same time, the Polish zloty, the Swiss franc and the US dollar weakened.

Recall that the National Bank of Ukraine approved a major update to the rules for the insurance sector. The regulator revised the procedure for authorizing insurance intermediaries in the specialized Register, and also adjusted requirements for the sale of insurance and reinsurance products. The innovations are intended to remove bureaucratic obstacles, address existing practical difficulties and significantly reduce administrative pressure on business.

By the way, from 4 September 2026 the National Bank of Ukraine will issue a new banknote with a denomination of 2 thousand UAH. The chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, commented on the possible impact of introducing the new banknote.

As reported, Ukraine’s international reserves at the beginning of August amounted to $51,19 billion. In July their volume decreased by 0,1% — from about $51,27 billion. At the same time, reserves grew by 19% year‑on‑year.
