"I Feel Sorry for Britain": Lavrov Threatened London Over Support for Ukraine

The head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, warned Great Britain over its military support for Ukraine and stated that Moscow could consider London a participant in the war. The Russian minister spoke of a response in the event of direct involvement of British forces in strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Lavrov spoke these words to Russian propagandist Pavel Zarubin.

Lavrov responded to remarks by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham that Britain would stand with Ukraine “to the end.”

The head of the Russian MFA said that Moscow would “feel sorry for Britain” if it truly intends to maintain that position.

“You know, I feel sorry for Britain if it will be with Ukraine until the very end,” Lavrov said.

Leading on, the Russian minister moved to threats. According to him, Moscow believes it has the right to act “in any region of the World Ocean” if someone targets Russia’s interests or property.

Separately, Lavrov mentioned the possible involvement of British forces in strikes on Russian territory. He stated that Moscow could interpret this not merely as aid to Ukraine.

“We also have the right to regard the openly announced direct participation of British missile troops in strikes on the Russian Federation as participation in the war. With all the consequences that follow,” the Russian foreign minister said.

Earlier, British media reported on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by Ukrainian forces, produced by two British companies, in long-range strikes on Russian territory.

Following these reports, Russian diplomats in the United Kingdom also began threatening London. They stated that with increased British support for Ukraine, the “price” for Britain itself would allegedly rise.

In London, officials did not announce any intention to suspend aid to Ukraine in response to the Russian threats. Burnham emphasized that the United Kingdom would continue to support Ukraine.
