The Servant Faction and the Rada Committee Supported Khmara's Appointment as Minister of Defense

19 August the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Defense and the faction of the party “Servant of the People” supported the appointment of Yevhen Hmara as the new Minister of Defense.

"The Defense Committee supported Hmara’s candidacy for the post of minister of defense," wrote Zheleznyak. According to him, all 15 committee members voted for this decision. As Araha mia said, 19 August the Servant of the People faction held a meeting with Andriy Sybyha and Yevheniy Hmara. "Submitting candidates for the posts of Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is the exclusive competence of the President of Ukraine. The faction supports Volodymyr Zelensky and the candidates he has proposed," stated the faction leader. He also added that the Servants of the People consider Andriy Sybiga to be a truly experienced diplomat and a strong member of the presidential team. In this context, he emphasized that Sybiga should continue the work he has been doing for quite some time. Separately Araha mia commented on Hmara as well. "Yevheniy Hmara is a combat officer who repeatedly risked his life for Ukraine. He has proven himself well in military service and while performing the duties of minister of defense," stressed the faction leader. According to him, Hmara has already outlined his priorities: to continue taking the strategic initiative; to push the war onto the enemy’s territory; to safeguard human capital; to develop technologies and the defense-industrial complex. Araha mia also noted that Hmara supports preserving positive achievements and people who have proven themselves well in the Ministry of Defense. "The faction shares his views and will support his candidacy in the chamber," concluded Araha mia. By the way, 19 August an in-house vote on Yevheniya Hmarya candidacy for minister of defense is expected in the Rada.

By the way, 18 August President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the Rada the nomination for Yevheniy Hmara as minister of defense. We also wrote that Bankova does not plan to return Mykhailo Fedorov and counts on a decrease in protests.
