Yermak described another meeting on the Peace Formula: there is progress on 9 points

A new meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps of various states on implementing the Peace Formula initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky took place at Boryspil International Airport on 1 December.

This was reported by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.

The current meeting on the Formula with international delegations was already the tenth.

Who participated

"86 participants joined the discussion: representatives of 83 foreign states and three international organizations," the official said.

Yermak noted that ambassadors participated in the discussion of the Peace Formula:

United States,

United Kingdom,

Germany,

Canada,

Italy,

France,

Japan,

Netherlands,

Brazil,

South Africa,

India,

Lithuania,

Norway,

Switzerland,

Romania,

Latvia,

the chargé d’affaires of Poland in Ukraine,

the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine,

and other participants.

From the Ukrainian side, the event also included:

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov,

Justice Minister Denys Maliuska,

First Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk,

leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Member of Parliament Mustafa Dzhemilev,

Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Oksana Matviychuk,

the team of the Office of the President and others.

What was discussed and what progress was made

According to Yermak, the Peace Formula has become "a coherent structure whose elements are tightly interconnected."

"There is progress on each of the nine points that we have already worked through," the Head of the OPU said.

The meeting on the Formula also raised the issue of creating a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression.

The tenth point and guarantees of peace

Yermak reminded that the concluding point of the Formula—the tenth—concerns ending Russia’s large-scale war against Ukraine.

According to the official, diplomats noted that a just and sustainable peace must be based on the principles of respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.

He emphasized that the only way to ensure guarantees of peace is to "defeat Russia on the battlefield." The official drew attention at the meeting with the international delegation to the fact that for this Ukraine must have modern technologies and weapons that "can offset Russia’s advantage in manpower and armaments."

Increasing the number of participants

The official also said that with each meeting at the level of national security and foreign policy advisers, the number of participants steadily increases.

Such a meeting on the Peace Formula is due to take place at the beginning of 2024 next year, Yermak added.

Global Peace Summit

As the Head of the Office of the President said, holding a Global Peace Summit is becoming "increasingly achievable." Yermak expressed hope that this event "will take place soon."

He said that a fourth meeting of national security and foreign policy advisers will take place soon.

"After that, it will be possible to move on to discussing the agenda and holding the first founding Global Peace Summit," the official added.
