Three deputies from Volyn supported defiance of the Constitution for the sake of a special status for Donbas

Volyn deputies Ihor Lipin from the “Narodnyi front” as well as Stepan Ivakhiv and Serhiy Martynyak from the “Voice of the People” group, in alliance with the “Opposition Bloc,” voted to change the article of the Parliament Regulations law that allows consideration of changes to the Constitution at the next session in order to enshrine a special status for Donbas.

This became known from the voting results, according to a correspondent for Vghlosu.

The Verkhovna Rada allowed the consideration of a draft constitutional amendment, which, according to the Constitutional Court’s conclusion, complies with the Constitution, was preliminarily approved by the Parliament and was not considered at the next scheduled session after its preliminary approval, “at the next plenary session.” This means that the draft amendments to the Constitution regarding the provision of a special status for Donbas may be brought to the next session of Parliament, since the authorities currently do not have the necessary 300 votes to adopt it.

In total, the vote for amending the regulations was cast by 229 deputies.

Among those who cast their votes for defiance of the Constitution in the name of a special status for Donbas:

- Faction of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party – 96 with 138 deputies.

- Faction of the political party “Narodnyi Front” – 55 with 81 deputies.

- Faction of the political party “Opposition Bloc” – 33 with 43 deputies.

- Group “The Revival Party” – 17 with 23 deputies.

- Group “Voice of the People” – 11 with 20 deputies.

- Faction of the political party “All-Ukrainian Union Batkivshchyna” – 10 with 19 deputies.
