Forbes named the largest private companies in Ukraine

Forbes Ukraine magazine compiled a ranking of the 100 largest private companies in the country. It was topped by the metallurgical company Metinvest of Rinat Akhmetov and Vadym Novynskyi.

It is noted that Metinvest's revenue for the 2019 year amounted to 278 billion UAH, and profit – 8,8 billion UAH. The company employs 66 000 people.

In second place in the ranking was the ATB-Market supermarket chain of Hennadii Butkevych, Yevhenii Yermakov and Viktor Karachun. The company's revenue last year amounted to 104,9 billion UAH, and profit – 4,4 billion UAH. ATB employs 49 300 staff.

In third place in the ranking is the agricultural holding Kernel of Andrii Verevskyi. Kernel's revenue for the 2019 year amounted to 93 billion UAH, and profit – 3,2 billion UAH. The agricultural holding employs 14 000 people.

Also among the ten largest private companies in Ukraine were Fozzy Group (Volodymyr Kostelman), DTEK Energy (Rinat Akhmetov), ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Lakshmi Mittal), MHP (Yurii Kosiuk), Tedis Ukraine (Borys Kaufman), Zaporizhstal (Rinat Akhmetov, Vadym Novynskyi and a group of Russian shareholders) and Epicenter (Oleksandr and Halyna Hereha).

For the 2019 year, the combined revenue of the one hundred largest private companies in Ukraine amounted to 2,15 trillion UAH, which equals 54% of Ukraine's GDP for last year, writes Forbes. The top 100 private companies employ 665 000 people. That is 4% of the total employed population, the magazine notes.
