Putin Decided Not to Offend Poroshenko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was not included in the sanctions that the Russian Federation imposed against natural and legal persons of Ukraine.

This was reported by the publication Kapital.

Also not included in the list were the president of Ukraine’s business assets: the confectionery company Roshen, which has one factory in Lipetsk, the International Investment Bank, the insurance company Kraina, the television 5 channel.

Also absent from the list is the president’s long-time business partner Ihor Kononenko, first deputy head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction. Only the president’s eldest son, Oleksiy Poroshenko, who does not own any significant business, fell under the sanctions, the publication notes.

As reported earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree introducing sanctions against Ukraine.

Among the individuals included in the list: former prime ministers Yulia Tymoshenko and Arseniy Yatsenyuk, interior minister Arsen Avakov, prosecutor general Yuriy Lutsenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov, the son of President P. Poroshenko Oleksiy, as well as businessmen Kostyantyn Hryhorishyn, Oleksandr Yaroslavsky and Leonid Yurushev, and Naftogaz head Andriy Kobolyev. In addition, former mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetskyi was included in the sanctions list.
