Another Russian strike on the railway, an electric train was attacked. There are dead and wounded

The aggressor country Russia 23 struck the electric train "Lozova – Kharkiv" in Kharkiv region in August, according to Ukraine’s Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport Mykola Kalashnik. A few hours earlier, it became known about a Shahed airstrike on the locomotive of a passenger train in Odesa region; it was attacked twice that day.

Kalashnik noted that on the Day of the Ukrainian State Flag the enemy had already struck the railway five times.

"At the Limanivka station in Kharkiv region, a Russian drone hit the electric train "Lozova – Kharkiv". Due to the threat of a drone strike on railway infrastructure, the train was stopped in advance and passengers were evacuated. Most, together with the train crew, were at a safe distance from the railway infrastructure, but some people remained near the train. This had fatal consequences: one female passenger was killed and four others were injured," he said.

Kalashnik informed that since the start of this year, Russia 1534 has attacked Ukrainian railways five times.

"Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian strikes have damaged 249 cars and 492 locomotives. While performing professional duties, 52 Ukrainian Railways employees were killed, another 317 were injured," the minister noted.

Chairman of the board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" Oleksandr Pershotsky commented on the attack on the electric train. He pointed out that it, as in the case of the Zhytomyr – Odesa train, was not alone. The electric train was also stopped in advance with evacuation. However, this time not all passengers followed the crew of Ukrainian Railways.

"Once again we insist: follow the rail workers' instructions clearly, under no circumstances should you stay near rolling stock during evacuation. The enemy today struck again at the locomotive in Odesa region as well as at this electric train, when the emergency services were already working. Timely information during these repeated strikes helped prevent casualties," he added.
