Accident involving children in Lviv region: 13-year-old driver and 11-year-old passenger injured

The road traffic incident occurred 22 August around 18:40 near the village of Boryatyn in Sheptytskyi district. According to preliminary data, a 13-year-old boy failed to control an electric bicycle, after which the two-wheeled vehicle toppled over.

In Sheptyntsi district of Lviv region, a road traffic accident occurred in which two children were injured. The accident happened 22 August around 18:40 near the village of Boryatyn.

According to preliminary police data, an electric bicycle was driven by a 13-year-old resident of Sheptytskyi. The boy failed to manage the vehicle, causing the two-wheeled transport to fall.

Together with him on the electric bicycle was a 11-year-old passenger, who is also a resident of Sheptytskyi.

As a result of the fall, both children sustained bodily injuries. The injured were hospitalized for necessary medical care.

The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.

In connection with the accident, investigators of the Sheptytskyi district police department opened a criminal proceeding under article 291 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic rules.

At present, law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the event and clarifying the reasons that led to the electric bicycle falling.

The investigation continues.

Earlier StopCor reported that in the village Buzheve in Kyiv region a 12-year-old boy died as a result of a road incident involving a two-wheeled electric vehicle. The child could not control it and collided with a metal pipe of a private house fence, sustaining fatal injuries. The police are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy and urge parents not to leave children without proper supervision when using transport.
