The surviving defendant in the “Ukrkhimtransamiak” case sentenced to a long term

Ihor Ihnatov will spend 12 years in prison.

The High Anti-Corruption Court found Ihor Ihnatov guilty and sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property. Ihnatov is accused of embezzling 43,5 million hryvnias from the state enterprise Ukrkhimtransamiak. This verdict was announced on 24 April by the panel of judges of the HACC consisting of presiding judge Ihor Strohyi, judges Lesia Fedorak and Markian Halabala, reports Slovo i sprava.

“To find Ihor Ihnatov guilty of committing the criminal offenses provided for in part 5 of article 191, part 3 of article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” announced Judge Strohyi.

The judges imposed a final sentence on Ihnatov of imprisonment for 12 years with a ban on holding managerial positions at enterprises, institutions, and organizations regardless of form of ownership for 3 years, with confiscation of all property.

The HACC confiscated for the benefit of the state 1/4 apartments in Khartsyzsk, Donetsk region; a Mercedes Benz 320 2000 model year; a Porsche Cayenne 2007 year of manufacture; a Lexus LS460 2007 year of manufacture; an Audi A6 2006 year of manufacture; a residential house of 322,7 square meters in the urban-type settlement Andriivka, Balakliia district, Kharkiv region; a Lexus GX470 2007 year of manufacture; a Porsche Panamera Turbo 2010 year of manufacture; a Porsche Cayenne 2011 year of manufacture.

Ihnatov was also taken into custody directly in the courtroom and 1,58 million hryvnias of the bail paid as a preventive measure under the court’s decision was seized in favor of the state.

The verdict has not entered into force and may be appealed within 30 days to the HACC Appeals Chamber.

Earlier in this case the second accused, former head of the SE Ukrkhimtransamiak Dmytro Hlazunov, died. His case was closed.

According to the prosecution’s version, during the period from 2013 to 2014, acting director of SE Ukrkhimtransamiak Dmytro Hlazunov, in prior conspiracy with the head of PJSC Infrastructure of Open Keys Ihor Ihnatov and other unidentified persons, misappropriated funds of the state enterprise totaling more than 43,5 million hryvnias. The embezzlement was carried out by signing dubious contracts between SE Ukrkhimtransamiak and a private company and subsequently converting the funds into cash.

These persons entered into a conspiracy to seize funds intended for carrying out work on the technical re-equipment of local public alert systems serving the population living within a 2,5-kilometer zone from the axis of the Ukrainian section of the Tolyatti–Odesa main ammonia pipeline. The bulk of the funds were paid in advance to accounts of controlled enterprises and were then used by the accused for their own needs.
