Head coach of Dnipro-1 resigned

Head coach of "Dnipro-1" Dmytro Mykhailenko has decided to leave his post.

The specialist announced this at a press conference after the 3-round UPL match against "Mariupol."

Together with Mykhailenko, all of his assistants left the club.

"Dnipro-1" suffered a home defeat to "Mariupol" by a score of 1:2, which was the team's second in a row.

"Something is not going right, so it's time to turn the page. As bitter as that sounds. I spent more than 20 years at the club as a player and a coach. Now the coaching staff and I are leaving. I'm sure this team has a great future. Lately things haven't been working, some chemistry disappeared. We need to move on," Mykhailenko said.

Mykhailenko began his coaching career at the helm of Dnipro's youth team, and later served as acting head coach of the senior Dnipro side.

In 2017 he took charge of "Dnipro-1" and promoted the club from the Second League to the Ukrainian Premier League. Last season the club failed to reach the top six and finished first in the second group of teams.

Recently, the media reported that the decision to dismiss Mykhailenko had already been made, and he could soon be replaced by former Karpaty coach and official Ihor Jovichevich.
