Ukraine Changes Rules for Storing Medicines Due to Russian Strikes on Warehouses

Ukraine has changed rules for storing medicines during the period of martial law. The decision is intended to give pharmaceutical companies more opportunities to organize warehousing and logistics work.

The Cabinet of Ministers simplified the rules for storing medicines during martial law. According to Prime Minister Serhiy Korotkyi, the measure should help pharmaceutical companies adapt logistics to wartime conditions. Pharmaceutical companies will be able to attract additional warehouses. After the rule change, pharmaceutical companies will be able to use additional storage facilities to store medicines. As Korotkyi explained, this flexibility is needed due to constant Russian strikes on warehouses and logistics facilities. Companies will be able to distribute medicine stocks across multiple locations instead of storing them in one place. According to the prime minister, this will also allow businesses to be more flexible in logistics matters. The decision, as expected, should contribute to uninterrupted medicine supplies to pharmacies. Why this is needed: Russian attacks on warehouse and logistics infrastructure create risks for storing and moving the necessary products. Therefore, the government decision should give pharmaceutical companies the ability to change storage and distribution schemes more quickly and distribute stocks among different premises.

What else is known about the government’s decision: small and medium agricultural producers operating in frontline regions will be able to receive substantial financial assistance from Ukraine’s allies, Korotkyi said. According to the prime minister, international partners have agreed to 10,5 million dollars in aid for small and medium agricultural producers in frontline regions.
