BTN Foundation supported preparation of the Ukrainian national team in tech sport for international competitions

In Ivano-Frankivsk region, national training camps for the Ukrainian national team in tech sport took place. This was the main stage of the team’s preparation for international events, organized by the Ukrainian Technology Sport Federation. The event took place in August with the support of BTN Foundation. Tech sport develops skills that directly determine the effectiveness of modern unmanned systems. Athletes compete in drone control, task execution accuracy, and hardware work, combining engineering training with quick reaction and the ability to act in conditions close to real ones. Over six days, more than 70 of the best athletes, instructors, and coaches in the disciplines of drone racing, FPV drone racing with payload, heavy air drop, light air drop, and NRK missions were engaged in an intensive training program. Participants tested the latest technologies, attended lectures, rehearsed practical scenarios, and practiced team coordination. The camps aimed to raise the technical level of the national team and improve UAV operation skills. “These camps showed the level Ukrainian tech sport has reached in a short time. We brought together pilots, engineers, and coaches and gave them a platform to work on real tasks. Based on the selection results, those who will go to defend the country’s colors abroad were identified, and the team faces serious international events ahead, for which they have been diligently preparing,” commented Artur Bulyhin, President of the Ukrainian Technology Sport Federation. Representatives from leading Ukrainian defense-industrial complex enterprises were also invited. Manufacturers of technological solutions, state institutions, and strategic partners of the Ukrainian Technology Sport Federation joined. As a result of the camps, the roster for the national team to participate in international competitions was formed: • British Army Tactical Drone Competition (BATDC) — tactical UAV competitions of the British Army; • Military International Drone Racing Tournament (MIDRT UK 2026) — International Military Drone Racing Tournament. Based on the selection, four top pilots were identified to represent Ukraine on the international stage. “These camps showed how quickly Ukrainian tech sport is growing and how many people stand behind its development. For every drone and every technical decision there are pilots, engineers, and coaches who are shaping a new sports culture in Ukraine — and that is very inspiring,” noted Roman Balashov, entrepreneur and IT investor. BTN Foundation works at the intersection of sport, inclusion, and equal opportunities and supports initiatives that combine sports development with social value, develop adaptive sport, and cultivate a culture of fair play. The collaboration between BTN Foundation and the Ukrainian Technology Sport Federation became the first step in realizing the foundation’s mission.
