Klitschko explained how traffic patterns across the Dnipro and metro operations changed during air-raid alerts

In Kyiv, the transport traffic rules on bridges across the Dnipro River will change during air raid alerts. The Darnytskyi Bridge, Pedestrian Bridge, Metro Bridge, and North Bridge will operate without changes, announced Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

According to the mayor, traffic on the Southern Bridge will be allowed without restrictions during an air raid alert, but it will be closed for half an hour after the alert is announced and for half an hour after the threat ends.

“At the same time, during an air raid alert, entry onto the Southern Bridge from Saperno-Slobidska Street and Mykhaila Boychuka Street will be closed,” Klitschko said.

Additionally, the Podilsko-Vyakhresnky Bridge crossing will operate with a technical closure for half an hour after the alert is announced and for half an hour after the threat ends. During the closure, reverse traffic will be introduced.

The Kyiv Defense Council also decided that at yellow threat level, the Serpentsko-Pecherska Metro Line (green branch) will operate without restrictions. The metro will transport passengers across the Southern Bridge.

At the same time, at red alert level, the green line will run between the stations “Siretse” — “Vydubychi” and “Slavutych” — “Chervonyi Huty”.

In addition, the Svyatoshyno-Brovarska Line (red branch) will continue to operate in a limited mode, moving passengers through the underground segment from the Akademmistechko metro station to Arsenala.

The mayor also said that the curfew in the capital has been shortened by one hour — it will last from 01:00 to 05:00 in the morning.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the capital’s public transport operation protocols would be reviewed during prolonged air raid alerts. He said that during yellow threat levels the Serpentsko-Pecherska Metro Line would operate fully.

At the same time, according to Member of Parliament Olha Vasilyevska-Smahluk, the Cabinet of Ministers is also considering “regulating taxi prices during alerts so that carriers do not charge exorbitant rates.”
