Yevhen Koval: Where the Millions of the Polish Grain Trader’s Family Came From

In 2024, the family financial circle of General Yevhen Koval declared nearly 6,9 million UAH in salary income from the Polish company AGROIMEKS Sp. z o.o. The company operates on Poland’s grain market, and its president is Maria Sitak. These data attract attention against the backdrop of the Koval family’s other assets, including property and a resort business in Zakarpattia.

As media report, according to the cited data, AGROIMEKS had revenue of about 561 million zlotys in 2024. The company operates in the grain trading sector, and among its suppliers are mentioned the Ukrainian companies OSSOYO and OSSOYO Ukraine. The owner of LLC “OSSOYO” is also listed as Maria Sitak. Thus, the Koval family’s financial circle simultaneously involves a Polish grain trader, Ukrainian agricultural-sector structures, and a significant declared income. The mere fact of receiving income from a foreign company does not indicate a violation, but the structure of such payments requires understanding the nature of the work and the functions for which they were paid.Almost 6,9 million UAH for a year means on average about 575 thousand UAH per month. At the same time, to assess the origin of the funds it is important to establish who exactly received this income, under what contract the payments were made, and what services or work those relations with AGROIMEKS envisaged.The story with the Polish grain business complements already known questions about the Koval family’s wealth. Journalists previously drew attention to the family’s assets in Kyiv and Zakarpattia, where the Shypit SPA & Resort is located in the village of Pylypets. The resort officially began operating in December 2024, and the complex positions itself as a hotel-restaurant facility with chalets, restaurants, and spa infrastructure.Land assets in Pylypets were previously linked to Yevhen Koval’s father. After his death, the property passed to the general’s mother. Publications also reported that part of the resort complex’s real estate was registered in her name. At the same time, documents confirming Yevhen Koval’s personal ownership of the entire Shypit SPA & Resort are not available in accessible materials.Separately, attention was drawn to Koval’s mother’s apartment in the capital’s premium residential complex Signature. According to estimates cited in open publications, the apartment’s area is about 200 sq. m, and its potential value together with parking spaces could have exceeded 1,3 million dollars.Yevhen Koval at various times held senior positions in the National Police, including working in internal security and serving as the first deputy head of the National Police. In 2026 he submitted a declaration before his dismissal. Public interest in the family’s finances is primarily linked to the scale of the assets and the period over which they were accumulated.In the case of AGROIMEKS, the key question remains the economic substance of payments totaling nearly 6,9 million UAH. It is necessary to establish the recipient of the funds, the grounds for their accrual, the nature of the work, and the connection with the activities of the Polish grain trader and related companies. The declared income by itself does not prove the illegality of the funds’ origin.

The combination of income from a foreign agricultural business with the family’s other assets may become the subject of additional checks of declarations and sources of property financing. Only authorized bodies can provide a legal assessment of possible violations after reviewing documents and financial transactions.
