Being a godfather or godmother is not just an honorary title, but a sign of closeness and trust. And although there’s a belief that there are no real friends in show business, even among celebrities there are close people who become like family to one another.

Many Ukrainian stars chose colleagues from the stage and co-stars to be godparents for their children. In this piece for 24 Channel we tell about artists who became godparents.

Natalka Karpa – Taras Topolia

The leader of the band ANTTILA is a close friend of Yehven Terekhov, a serviceman and defender. So in 2019 Taras Topolia became related by godparenthood with his friend and singer Natalka Karpa. The artist admitted that Topolia became a close person to her, as he was present at important moments.

Vitali Kozlovskyi – Yuliya Yatsechko

Vitali Kozlovskyi and his wife became related by godparenthood with the wife of Anatoliy Anatolich, PR specialist Yulia. She became the godmother of the singer’s son, Oskar.

Liliya Rebrik – Anatoliy Anatolich

In March 2024 Liliya Rebrik became a mother for the third time — she and dancer Andriy Dykyi welcomed a daughter they named Adelina. The girl’s godfather became the presenter, colleague and friend of the celebrity mom, Anatoliy Anatolich.

Natalka Denysenko – Olena Svitlytska

Natalka Denysenko and Olena Svitlytska studied together at the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University — their friendship lasted more than 15 years. The women even lived in the same dorm room. So it’s not surprising that Natalka Denysenko became the godmother of Olena’s older daughter, Vera.

At the same time, their relationship has since changed — they no longer communicate. Denysenko previously said she does not plan to restore her friendship with Svitlytska after their conflict.

Svitlana Tarabarova – Solomiya Vitvitska

The producer of the national selection for Junior Eurovision became a mother for the first time in 2018 — that year her son Ivan was born. His godmother became Solomiya Vitvitska, a television presenter and close friend of Svitlana Tarabarova. The stars often spend time together — relaxing or celebrating important events.

Potap – Yuriy Horbunov and Kateryna Osadcha

Potap is the godfather of the eldest son of Yuriy Horbunov and Kateryna Osadcha — Ivan.

However, over time the friendly relationship between the rapper and the TV presenter ended. After the start of the full-scale invasion, Oleksiy Potapenko mostly lives abroad, has repeatedly been involved in scandals over his statements and gives interviews to Russian journalists. As Yuriy Horbunov said, they no longer keep in touch. Meanwhile the family tries to surround Ivan with enough attention so the boy does not feel the absence of his godfather.

It’s worth adding that Nastya Kamenskikh, Potap’s wife, has the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine Alla Kudlai as her godmother. NK herself recently made an outrageous statement about why she abandoned Ukrainian and returned to the Russian language.

Maria Yaremchuk – Oleksandr Ponomaryov

Maria Yaremchuk gave birth to a son, Yarema, in 2024. The boy’s godfather became singer Oleksandr Ponomaryov.

Due to busy touring schedules the artists don’t see each other often. Besides, Maria lives far from her godfather. They last met about six months ago, but Ponomaryov said he planned to visit Yaremchuk in a month and spend time with his godson.

Iryna Bilyk – Alina Grosu

In May 2026 Iryna Bilyk became the godmother of Alina Grosu’s son, Mark-Gabriel. The boy was baptized in Chernivtsi, in the church where Alina herself was once baptized.

Previously Grosu jokingly called Bilyk her “godmother in Ukrainian show business,” since the singer supported her at the start of her career. Now they have become true godparent and godchild.

Ivo Bobul – Leonid Kuchma

The godfather of singer Ivo Bobul’s youngest son Danylo became Ukraine’s second president, Leonid Kuchma. Although they see each other less now, the men keep in touch and occasionally call one another.

“It was Danylo’s birthday, I congratulated him. We used to meet more often. Now there’s a war and it’s not really the time. But we call one another, find out about health, life, if any help is needed. When I choose friends, I choose them for life,”

Kravets – the Zelenskys

Serhiy Kravets, husband of actress Olena Kravets, became the godfather of the daughter of Volodymyr and Olena Zelensky — Oleksandra.

During the girl’s baptism it turned out that Olena Zelenska herself had not been baptized. She then invited Olena Kravets to become her godmother. The actress agreed.
