“Did not recommend and did not present”: Pishnyy rejected the former Sense Bank council chair’s statement about Veselyi

The former chair of the supervisory board of Sense Bank, Shevki Adzhuner, said that he recommended Vasyl Vesely for work at the bank to the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshnyy. The latter denies everything.

This became known during the meeting of the Temporary Inquiry Commission of the Verkhovna Rada.

The former chair of the Sense Bank supervisory board, Shevki Adzhuner, stated that he met Vasyl Vesely after discussions with representatives of the National Bank about the need to improve communication between the state and stakeholders.

According to him, at that time the bank’s supervisory board had only five members, so the issue of strengthening communication was relevant.

“I met Mr. Vesely as a result of discussions with the NBU about the need to improve communication between the state and stakeholders. There were only five members on the supervisory board, and I myself emphasized that we should improve communications,” Adzhuner said.

According to the former head of the supervisory board, it was Andriy Pyshnyy who introduced him to Vesely. Adzhuner also stated that he was told the possible role of Vesely as the “bank’s communicator with stakeholders” even before the interview process began.

“I was told that Mr. Vesely could be trusted as the bank’s communicator with stakeholders before the bank began the interview process,” he said, answering questions about the recommendation of the candidacy.

After appointing Vasyl Vesely as the manager for government communications, according to Adzhuner, there were fewer problems in the bank’s interaction with the NBU.

Andriy Pyshnyy denied providing any personnel recommendations to the Sense Bank supervisory board.

“I categorically deny providing any personnel recommendations to the Sense Bank supervisory board,” Pyshnyy said.

He emphasized that he did not recommend appointing Vasyl Vesely as an adviser to the supervisory board, did not present him to board members, and did not give them instructions regarding this or other personnel decisions.

Pyshnyy also denied any pressure on the head or members of Sense Bank’s supervisory board. “Statements to the contrary do not reflect the reality,” the head of the NBU noted.

At the same time, Pyshnyy confirmed the fact of his acquaintance with Vesely. He said that he had already confirmed this in response to a direct question from the head of the TSC at the previous meeting.

The head of the NBU also said he was ready to take part in the TSC meeting, answer questions, and provide the necessary explanations.

“If the TSC has questions for me, they should be asked directly to me, not formed through the interpretation of testimony by other people,” he said.
