Money Is Short: Ukrainians Warned About Possible Delay in Social Payments

In Ukraine, due to the difficult situation with budget funding, delays in some social payments may occur if revenue to the treasury is insufficient. Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada financial committee, said that priority funding would go to the security and defense sector, according to liga.net. According to the minister, defense needs remain enormous, and the state must find additional resources for weapons, monetary support for military personnel, and other expenses of the security and defense sector. Marchenko stated that the government is already forced to constrain part of the budget expenditures. The minister did not rule out that, in the event of an unfavorable development of the situation, difficulties could also affect social payments. As FACTS reported, recently the Verkhovna Rada supported a large-scale reform of social assistance.
