Kushner explained what peace for Ukraine should look like

A just outcome of the war for Ukraine should be based on three key things — sovereignty, security, and the country’s development prospects. American negotiator Jared Kushner acknowledged that Ukraine and Russia do not currently share the same vision of the end result they seek.

This is what Jared Kushner said at the annual YES meeting, organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, according to Galina Ostapovets of Novyny.LIVE.

Conditions for a just peace for Ukraine

Kushner noted that the main task of negotiations is not merely to stop the current conflict, but to find a solution that will ensure a lasting and stable peace.

According to him, while working with Ukraine and Russia, the American side sought to understand the perspectives of both sides, their demands and visions for ending the war.

“For Ukraine, they need sovereignty, security, and perspective — these are the three foundations of any just result,” Kushner said.

At the same time, the negotiator acknowledged that the parties are still far from a common vision of the end result.

He said that Ukraine and Russia are not on the same page about what exactly they want to achieve. That is why the role of mediators is to work with each side, build trust, listen to their positions, and seek possible points of convergence.

Kushner emphasized that such negotiations are difficult and can last a long time. He cited as an example the United States’ prior work on the Gaza and Abraham Accords agreements.

According to him, once a sufficient level of trust is built between the sides, there is an opportunity to move on to concrete arrangements.

At the same time, Kushner stressed that it is important to achieve a result that not only stops hostilities but also lays the groundwork for long-term stability.

He also noted that both sides currently feel significant pain from the war, but at the same time want to understand whether it can be ended.

As Novyny.LIVE reported, Kushner stated that the issue of territories remains the most difficult in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. He said its resolution will largely depend on developments on the front.

And Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky urged the United States not to delay imposing new sanctions on Russia. He said restrictions should weaken Moscow’s ability to finance the war.
