Andriy Yermak’s Electronic Bracelet Removed: VAKS Gave the Reason

The court removed Andriy Yermak's electronic bracelet due to an unexpected health threat. At the same time, for the former head of the Office of the President, a number of other restrictions remained in place.

According to conclusions by an independent medical specialist, continued wearing of the electronic bracelet could pose a threat to Andriy Yermak's life and health. This became one of the grounds for which the Anti-Corruption Action Center (ACAC) refused to extend this procedural obligation.

What restrictions remain in force

Meanwhile, the investigative judge of the ACAC partly granted the prosecutor's motion and extended the term of the procedural duties imposed on the former head of the Office of the President for another 60 days.

Thus, he must:

on demand, come to the detective, prosecutor, and court;

notify changes in place of residence or work;

not leave the defined localities;

hand over for safekeeping passports and other documents that authorize leaving Ukraine.

He is also prohibited from communicating with individuals designated by the court, including other suspects and witnesses, regarding the circumstances of the criminal case.

Recall that Andriy Yermak was released from detention after the full amount of bail – 140 million hryvnias – was provided.

In the morning of 18 May, Yermak was freed from custody.

The former head of the Office of the President is a suspect in a case concerning alleged laundering of about 460 million hryvnias during the construction of an elite property in Kozyn. According to the investigation, businessmen Timur Mindich and former vice-prime minister Oleksiy Chernyshov may also be involved in the scheme.
