Luxurious life in Switzerland despite NABU search: where Mykhailo Kiperman is now and the schemes he is accused of

Mykhailo Kiperman, who at one time managed financial schemes within the Privat group, currently resides in Switzerland despite an official search by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.

During his active work in the circle of oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, the manager took part in large-scale siphoning of state funds. Kolomoisky himself previously publicly admitted that he paid Leonid Kuchma through his son-in-law Viktor Pinchuk about 5 million dollars monthly for control over Ukrnafta, and the total amount of such payments reached 110 million dollars. These expenses had to be covered by the responsible managers, among whom was Kiperman.

The acquired wealth allowed him to lead a lavish lifestyle and play a noticeable role in the country’s social scene. In particular, in 2006 he married singer Vera Brezhneva, who had previously been involved with another businessman. The marriage later ended, but one of the daughters stayed with her father and is now with him in Switzerland while Ukrainian law enforcement agencies try to bring him to account.

Beyond the oil sector, Kiperman’s activities also covered other areas of energy. The investigation recorded the embezzlement of almost one billion hryvnias in operations with electricity at Ukrenergo, organized jointly with banker Yuliia Frolova from Alliance Bank.

During the investigation, the defendants’ defense tried to influence the course of the case. In particular, lawyer Nosov from the Miller law firm attempted to negotiate with representatives of NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office to transfer the case to another law enforcement agency with the aim of subsequently closing the proceedings. According to the investigation, a bribe of 200 thousand was offered for this.
