Marchenko Held Informal Meeting with IMF Managing Director in Dublin

The minister emphasized that the IMF program remains a key anchor of Ukraine's macroeconomic stability.

Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva as part of an informal meeting of EU economics and finance ministers in Dublin in September 19.

The information was reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Marchenko named the key topics of the discussion: the continued implementation of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, preparing Ukraine's state budget for 2027 year, ensuring predictable external financing, and Ukraine's progress in implementing structural reforms.

He also thanked the IMF for its support of Ukraine and called this cooperation an important signal to international partners regarding Kyiv's economic policy trajectory.

Marchenko stressed that the IMF program remains a key anchor of Ukraine's macroeconomic stability.

"We continue to fulfill our commitments and carry out the necessary reforms. At the same time, today our main task is to ensure a sufficient, steady, and predictable volume of external financing for 2027 year. In this context, IMF leadership is extremely important for consolidating support from all our international partners," he said.

In July Ukraine received the second tranche of about 690 million dollars from the IMF under the new four-year program. It was previously reported that the total financing under this program had grown to approximately 2,2 billion dollars.

The IMF noted that Ukraine overall is successfully meeting program conditions: all quantitative indicators as of the end of March were met, however the implementation of certain structural reforms slowed down. Also the target for gross international reserves at the end of June was not met, in particular due to the negative impact of the war in the Middle East.

At the beginning of September, parliament failed to pass three laws that could have provided Ukraine with more than 4 billion dollars, and two more laws — from the IMF program.

2 September, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky held a meeting with the IMF mission led by Gavin Grey. They discussed, among other things, the preparation of the draft state budget for 2027 year.
