Question to Tkach, Nikolov, Shabunin in the Context of the Kryvonos Case: Where Have the Principles Gone?

The situation surrounding the head of NABU Semen Kryvonos was highlighted by political scientist Ihor Reiterovych. In particular, he reproached those who for years positioned themselves as principled whistleblowers of corruption. About this, Reiterovych wrote on his page in a social network. “It is especially surprising how investigative journalists like Mykhailo Tkach, Yuriy Nikolov, Vitaliy Shabunin, and many others have reacted to this situation. They have fought for so long for the status of ‘spokesmen of truth’ and ‘exposers of dishonesty,’” he wrote. According to Reiterovych, it is precisely now that these principles are being tested. After all, questions of integrity and accountability cannot depend on who is being discussed. The expert emphasizes that public trust underpins the work of anti-corruption bodies. “If it disappears — everything such an authority does for society begins to look like anything but a fight to establish justice,” Reiterovych wrote. Therefore, in the politician’s view, the Kryvonos situation becomes a question not only for NABU but also for those who for years demanded transparency and answers from others.
