The Office of the Prosecutor General redistributed powers between Anton Kovalsky and four deputies

The Office of the Prosecutor General changed the distribution of duties among its leadership. The corresponding changes are set out in order of Acting Prosecutor General Anton Kovalsky No. 244.

This is stated in an order from the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Kovalsky himself retained overall leadership of the Office and a number of key areas. In particular, he will be responsible for interaction with the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Office of the President, the National Security and Defense Council, and the High Council of Justice.

His powers also include coordinating law enforcement agencies in combating crime, personnel work, international cooperation, the General Inspectorate, internal audit, information policy, and protection of state secrets.

Separately, the acting prosecutor general was assigned interaction with international associations of prosecutors and anti-corruption bodies, the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors, Eurojust, Interpol, and Europol.

The rest of the main areas were distributed among the 4 deputies.

Maksym Krym received the law enforcement and representative block. He was assigned the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office, oversight of compliance with laws by the National Police of Ukraine and bodies combating organized crime, as well as the Bureau of Economic Security.

Krym will also coordinate issues of investment protection, representation of the state's interests in court, public communications, and the handling of appeals and requests.

Andriy Leshchenko will be responsible for the defense, law enforcement, and human rights directions at once.

He was given the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense and oversight of the State Bureau of Investigations. Also within his area of responsibility are combating crimes committed in the context of armed conflict and violations of human rights in the law enforcement and penitentiary spheres.

In addition, Leshchenko will coordinate the work of the Coordination Center for Support of Victims and Witnesses and interaction with ARMA.

The greatest expansion of powers was provided for Viktor Lohachov. He retained the department for the protection of children's interests and countering domestic violence.

At the same time, a digital block was added to this direction. Lohachov will be responsible for the Department of Information Technologies, countering criminal offenses in the field of cybersecurity, organizational support for the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations, and information-analytical work.

Oleksii Khomenko was given oversight of security agencies and criminal proceedings regarding crimes related to mass protests 2013–2014 years.

Khomenko will also be responsible for state property management and procurement, financial planning activities and accounting, digitization of recordkeeping, and sustaining public prosecution in court.

A separate area of his powers was defined as interaction with the Training Center for Prosecutors of Ukraine.

The order also established interchangeability among the deputies. If Maksym Krym is absent, he is replaced by Viktor Lohachov, and Lohachov is replaced by Krym. Andriy Leshchenko and Oleksii Khomenko also substitute for each other.

Separately, the document defines the procedure for work in the absence of the acting prosecutor general. In that case, his powers will be exercised by one of the deputies in accordance with a separate order.
