Due to shelling in Kyiv, data centers damaged: city experiencing internet disruptions

As a result of another enemy attack on the capital, digital infrastructure facilities were hit, causing large-scale disruptions in the work of internet providers. This was reported by Hlavkom with reference to statements from operators Utels and Pavutyna.

Utels reported damage to a Kyiv data center where their core equipment is located. That equipment is currently without power, causing users to experience problems accessing the network. Emergency repair crews are already working on site.

The provider Pavutyna also reported a large-scale outage. According to the company, multiple digital infrastructure locations were simultaneously damaged by the shelling, leaving nearly half of their network without service.

“The scale of the destruction inflicted on our infrastructure is colossal. Critically important equipment and communication lines have been damaged,” Pavutyna stated.

The company added that the situation is under control and that internet and core services are planned to be restored within the next few hours via backup capacities, although work on some damaged sections may take longer.

Recall that during the morning shelling of the capital there was a strike on a transport infrastructure facility and a fire broke out on the roof of a Ukrnafta gas station in the Darnytskyi district. The strike caused smoke over the left bank of the capital, and videos circulated online. According to Ukrnafta management, station employees were in shelter and were not injured.

Also during the morning attack, in Holosiivskyi district a drone struck a gas station and a warehouse facility was damaged. The consequences of the attack were also recorded in Solomianskyi district. Preliminary data indicate a fire occurred on the premises of a transport company there. In addition, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that fragments of a drone fell between residential buildings in Solomianskyi district.

During the sixth air raid alert of the day, a large fire broke out near the Central Railway Station. The Shaiba market is burning, where the Velika Kyshenia supermarket used to be located.

On the night of 23 September, the Russian occupying army also struck Zaporizhzhia. The attack damaged a shopping center.

By the way, Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Peretsovskyi reported that a railway worker who was returning home after his shift sustained shrapnel wounds. The man was hospitalized in serious condition, but medics were unable to save his life.
