Enemy attacks caused smoke in Kyiv: important warning for residents

In Kyiv as of 12:00 23 September, smoke was recorded as a result of fires caused by enemy attacks. In particular, smog is observed in Solomianskyi, Obolonskyi, and Podilskyi districts. This was reported by Hlavkom with reference to the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration.

According to the agency, the state of ambient air quality at all stationary reference monitoring points currently remains within normal limits. However, the smoke may have a negative impact on the health of people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

The Kyiv City State Administration notes that the air quality index reflects the current condition and can change rapidly depending on the fire situation.

Until the situation improves, specialists recommend:

close windows;

limit prolonged outdoor exposure;

drink enough water to maintain hydration;

if you have an air purifier, turn it on to the highest setting.

The most polluted air at the time of publication was observed on Ivana Pavla II Street, 14 – 70 AQI, Ronald Reagan Street, 9H – 65 AQI and near the National Sports Complex “Olimpiyskiy” – 58 AQI.

Recall that during the morning shelling of the capital, a transport infrastructure facility was hit and a fire broke out on the roof of a Ukrnafta gas station in the Darnytskyi district. As a result of the strike, smoke was observed over the left bank of the capital, and related videos circulated online. According to Ukrnafta management, the station staff were in shelter and were not injured.

Also during the morning attack in Holosiivskyi district, a drone struck a gas station and a warehouse facility was damaged. The consequences of the attack were also recorded in Solomianskyi district. Preliminary data indicate a fire occurred on the premises of a transport company there. In addition, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle fell between residential buildings in Solomianskyi district.

During the sixth air raid alert of the day, a large-scale fire broke out near the Central Railway Station. The Shaiba market is burning, where the Velika Kyshenia supermarket used to be located.

On the night of 23 September, the Russian occupying army also struck Zaporizhzhia. The attack damaged a shopping center.

By the way, Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr PertsoVskyi reported that a railway worker who was returning home after his shift sustained shrapnel injuries. The man was hospitalized in serious condition, but medics were unable to save his life.
