More than 6 thousand people remain in occupied Oleshky: the city suffers from shortages of food and water

More than 6 thousand people remain in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding district in Kherson region, including about 200 children. Due to an acute shortage of food, water, and medicine, people are in extremely difficult conditions, and attempts to leave the city on their own can be deadly.

This was reported by Ombudsperson Dmytro Lubinets.

According to him, there is no agreed evacuation from the occupied territories. Because of this, people try to leave on their own, in particular by crossing mined fields, risking mine explosions, shelling, and attacks by Russian drones.

In summer, locals could still partially survive thanks to harvests from their own vegetable gardens. However, with the arrival of autumn, stocks have begun to run out, and access to necessary food and medicine is practically nonexistent.

According to BILD, after a Russian convoy carrying humanitarian aid was hit, local residents immediately took everything that survived.

The last reported delivery of food to Oleshky was in May. The humanitarian supply situation remains critical.

There are also reports of the dead, whose bodies cannot always be buried because of the danger and in some places remain simply in the streets. According to sources, stray dogs approach the bodies.

In addition, drones constantly fly over the city, which further complicates movement and any attempts to evacuate civilians.
