The State Environmental Inspectorate Discussed the Future of the Waste Management Sector with Business

Its main task is to create transparent and fair conditions where everyone plays by the same rules, and those companies that invest in the environment receive protection from unfair competition.

This is exactly what was discussed 22 in October 2026 of this year at the conference of waste management operators, organized by the Ukrainian association of enterprises. The panel discussion titled “How to ensure level playing field and protect fair market operators?” was moderated by Dmitro Zaruba, First Deputy Head of the State Ecological Inspection of Ukraine.

Who joined the discussion and what topics were raised

Leading officials and security forces joined the open discussion, because market problems require a comprehensive approach:

First Deputy Minister of Economy and Environment of Ukraine Olena Khramarenko.

Deputy Head of the State Consumer Service Andriy Kreitor.

Head of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Office of the General Prosecutor Boris Indichenko.

Head of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police Yaroslav Dyakin.

Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy Oleh Bondarenko.

A sharp topic of discussion was inspections of enterprises during martial law. Business and inspectors’ views sometimes differ, but the participants agreed on one thing: the state must protect those who honestly invest in modern equipment and comply with environmental standards, while strictly identifying violators.

Oleh Bondarenko, head of the parliamentary committee, emphasized the importance of creating a unified and coherent model of interaction among the ministry, deputies, law enforcement, and supervisory bodies. Such a system should give entrepreneurs room to operate and effective mechanisms to defend their rights.
