Person information

Dnipro agro-tycoon, who on NABU tapes seems to be called simply "Vasya"

A professional lawyer, son of police general Mykola Astion — former head of Kyiv's Department of Organized Crime during the "Honhadze case." Chairman of the board of directors of Dnipro Agro Group (~50,000 ha), owner of vodka and dairy factories; in 2019 ranked 88th among the richest Ukrainians with $70 million. Politically "covered" as an assistant to MPs Khomutynnyk and Filatov and a regional council deputy from "Vidrodzhennia" party.

Suspicions, raiding, and sudden Vienna

In January 2024, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) announced suspicion against Astion for tax evasion amounting to 61.5 million UAH — and the judge immediately reduced the bail 61 times. He and his father-in-law, a deputy, are accused of raiding; the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions on their firm (whose director fled to the enemy in occupied Kherson), and in spring 2026 Astion apparently went abroad himself. The finale: in August 2026, he was mentioned on the "Forest Gump" tapes as a possible collector of bail money for former minister Galushchenko in the "Midas" case. "Cashier"? Astion denies everything.
