In 2018, the prosecutor's office filed bribery charges against Mykola and Oleksiy Azarov — the amount of illicit benefit was 140 million UAH.
Ministry of Justice lawsuit to the High Anti-Corruption Court for confiscation and continuation of NABU investigation
On February 16, 2021, NABU resumed the pre-trial investigation regarding Azarov. On May 6, 2026, the Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking sanctions — seizure of assets owned by Mykola and Oleksiy Azarov: real estate and land plots in Kyiv and Kyiv region, money, corporate rights, valuables, books, and icons. Despite ongoing investigations, according to Deutsche Welle, Azarov Jr. continued entrepreneurial activity in several EU countries from 2017 to 2019 through trusted persons — notably through Kostyantyn Pyvovarov, to whom he officially transferred assets as early as February 2014. EU sanctions against him were lifted in 2015; however, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine sanctions remain in effect.
