Kyrylo Budanov is one of the most influential Ukrainian security officials, whose career from special forces operative to head of the OPU encompasses more than most officials manage in a lifetime. From 2020 to 2025 — chief of the GUR, then head of the Office of the President by decree of Zelensky dated January 2, 2026. Hero of Ukraine (2024). Full recipient of the Order "For Courage". Accurate predictions and unsuccessful assassination attempts
Budanov predicted the full-scale invasion back in autumn 2021, specifying exact dates. He survived over ten assassination attempts: in April 2019, a mine was planted under his car that prematurely detonated — the perpetrator was detained. His wife Marianna was poisoned with heavy metals in November 2023.
