Co-founder of the dolphinarium network "Oscar" and the water park "Treasure Island," co-owner of the furniture factory VMV Holding. At 25, he was considered deputy chairman of the board of "Poltavaoblenergo" and had connections with the Surkis brothers' structures in the energy sector.

After the occupation of parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, Chekurda's business — including two dolphinariums of the "Oscar" network — continued to operate in cooperation with the Russian occupation authorities. This became the basis for his conviction in 2025 for collaborationist activities.

Bribery since 2003

As early as 2003, a documented case of extortion took place: Chekurda, through "friends" in the Vyshhorod Department of Organized Crime Control, organized pressure on the then head of "Ukrenerhofinans" — requesting $10,000 for "resolving the issue." In 2005, he solidified his position in the energy sector during the raider battle for "Poltavaoblenergo" and "Prykarpattyaoblenergo." A person with such a background — and his mother as a business partner of the cohabitant of the first deputy head of the capital's police.
