Acting Chairman of the Board of PJSC SPCU in 2019-2020 — accused of staffing frauds amounting to UAH 5.9 million
An American of Ukrainian descent, born in the USA, graduated from Vassar College (1992, International Relations and Russian language) and received an MBA from INSEAD Business School (1996). From 2006 to 2008, he worked as Deputy Director of Production at the agricultural company Black Earth Farming in Russia. Prior to joining the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (PJSC SPCU) — he restructured the debts of the agroholding "Mriya" amounting to $1.1 billion and attracted the Saudi investor SALIC UK Ltd. In December 2019 – April 2020 — Acting Chairman of the Board of PJSC SPCU.
UAH 9 million embezzlement and dismissal after conflict with shareholder
After dismissal, PJSC SPCU accused Chernyavskyi of staffing frauds that caused losses of UAH 5.9 million. He is separately suspected of abusing official position and embezzling over UAH 9 million. Chernyavskyi himself stated he left due to differing views on the corporation's development strategy with the shareholder — particularly regarding solving the Chinese loan issue.
