FSB Training, "Tapes" Against Biden and GRU Agent Network
Andriy Derkach is a People's Deputy of Ukraine from the 3rd to the 9th convocations, son of former SBU Chief Leonid Derkach. He studied at the FSB Academy in Moscow. He is included in the US sanctions list as a "Russian agent with over a decade of experience." According to the SBU, Derkach managed an agent network of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation — the GRU — in Ukraine, which was intended to help the occupiers seize power. In 2020, he publicly released "tapes" allegedly compromising Poroshenko and Biden — US intelligence classified this as Russian interference in the American elections. In September 2020, the US Treasury imposed personal sanctions against Derkach. From 2019 to 2022, he received at least $567,000 from Russian law enforcement and intelligence agencies for subversive activities against Ukraine. After the full-scale invasion began, he fled to Russia. In January 2023, he was stripped of his citizenship.
Treason, Senator from Astrakhan and Connection with "Midas"
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) notified Derkach of suspicion of treason and illegal enrichment. In December 2023, the case was sent to court, and the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) decided to conduct special judicial proceedings. As of November 2024, Derkach is a senator representing Astrakhan Oblast of the Russian Federation and a member of the Federation Council's Security and Defense Committee. In the NABU tapes in the "Midas" case, the former Minister of Energy Halushchenko is publicly called a "Derkach man." The SBU established that individuals connected to Derkach were involved in "Energoatom" tenders worth billions of hryvnias.
