Deputy of the Kharkiv Regional Council from the mayor-separatist’s party

Lyudmyla Hasan is a regional politician from Kharkiv whose public career is inextricably linked to Hennadiy Kernes's political machine. In the 2020 local elections, she was elected to the Kharkiv Regional Council at number 24 on the "Kernes Bloc — Successful Kharkiv" list — a party project of the then mayor of Kharkiv, who after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, became posthumously central to discussions regarding pro-Russian sympathies of the Kharkiv city elite. Kernes died in November 2020 from complications related to COVID-19, but his party continued to exist and retained its faction in the regional council. Deputies from this group traditionally vote in a unified manner and rarely break party discipline.

Work in the Ecology Commission

Within the Kharkiv Regional Council, Hasan is a member of the commission on ecology, nature use, environmental protection, emergencies and elimination of their consequences, as well as the commission on joint ownership of territorial communities of the region. Both commissions are directly related to the management of regional assets and land resources. The party is known as a regional political clan with a strict vertical loyalty.
