"Tender King" — ex-Regional Party member and People's Deputy of several convocations
People's Deputy of several convocations, known for frequent changes of political camps (BYuT/"Batkivshchyna" → Party of Regions → "Vidrodzhennia"). In the 2000s–2010s, journalists from "Dzerkalo Tyzhnia" linked him through relatives and associates with control over the "Tender Chamber of Ukraine" union, which had exclusive authority over public procurement; hence the nickname "Tender King." Instances of "button-pressing" in the Parliament were repeatedly recorded.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office opened two proceedings on abuse of power and illegal enrichment
Following an investigation by "Nashi Hroshi"/Bihus.Info titled "Test Storage" about the family's assets (a palace of approximately 1500 sq. m registered to his father-in-law, elite apartments, and commercial real estate), the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office initiated two criminal proceedings — abuse of power and illegal enrichment in especially large amounts. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau also reviewed contracts of companies affiliated with him.
Other incidents
In 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine was asked to investigate possible connections between Yatsenko and collaborator People's Deputy Oleksiy Kovalov (no official charges of collaborationism have been brought against him). He demonstratively did not stand for the anthem during a session of the Uman City Council. In the case of the murder of activist Iryna Nozdrovska, her mother testified in court that Yatsenko—her daughter's former employer—had threatened her.
