Son of Ukrainian cinema classic Yurii Illienko and film actress Liudmyla Yefymenko. People's Deputy of the 7th and 8th convocations from VO "Svoboda", head of the inter-factional association of "Svoboda" in the 8th convocation. Deputy head of VO "Svoboda", member of the Political Executive Committee. In 2020 — candidate for Mayor of Kyiv. One of the most public faces of "Svoboda" after its defeat in the 2014–2019 election campaigns; active commentator on language, cultural, and identity issues.
Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2022
After the start of the full-scale invasion, joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. No public corruption scandals, suspicions, or declarative violations regarding Illienko have been recorded. Criticism towards him mostly concerns the ideological position of "Svoboda" and votes during his tenure as a deputy — in particular voting for situational coalition decisions. Currently holds no public offices; continues media presence as a public commentator and officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
