The anti-corruption center "Mezha" found that the father of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, Andriy Kravchenko, obtained a Russian passport in June 2023 — a year after the occupation of Sievierodonetsk, where he lived. Between June and September 2023, he crossed checkpoints between the Russian Federation and the “LNR” at least four times. At first, he used Ukrainian license plates. Later, he changed his vehicle registration to Russian.
The "Mezha" investigation showed that three out of five Deputy Prosecutor Generals have direct ties to Russia. The wife of one has parents in Sevastopol holding Russian passports and personally obtained a Russian Tax Identification Number. The biological brother of another deputy switched sides to the enemy and works in the leadership of the military prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation. This is the team of the person who is supposed to fight traitors.
Kravchenko was the main initiator of the attack on NABU — he conducted searches of anti-corruption bureau detectives, accusing them of "Russian ties." While he was looking for "enemies" in NABU, his own father was traveling to occupied territories with a Russian passport. NABU registered proceedings regarding a possible bribe to the prosecutor in the form of a 110 m² official apartment in the Pecherskyi district.
After publications about the family’s connections to Russia, Kravchenko stated: "Whoever is working against me now — I will come for each personally." This statement prompted official criticism from the European Union as incompatible with the functioning of a rule-of-law state. The EU included an open competition for the Prosecutor General position among the list of demands for Ukraine in 2026.
