Seven-time MP, minister, and deputy prime minister from Tymoshenko's team

Ivan Kyrylenko is one of the longest-serving members of the Ukrainian parliament: first elected in 1995 and since then, with minor breaks, has remained in the Verkhovna Rada. An agronomist by initial education, he graduated in 1991 from the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU. He holds a Candidate degree in History and a Doctorate in Economics, and is a corresponding member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. From 2000 to 2002, he served as Minister of Agrarian Policy. From November 2002 to February 2005, he was the "agrarian" Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine in Yanukovych's first government. That is, a person later associated with BYuT and Tymoshenko who held a key position in Yanukovych's government.

Tymoshenko’s godfather and a controversial land statement

Tymoshenko herself considers Kyrylenko her political mentor and godfather. Before stepping down as the faction leader in 2011, he made a scandalous statement: hinting at a possible BYuT support for a land market law lifting the moratorium—in exchange for decriminalization of the article against Tymoshenko and backing the 2012 state budget. The opposition faction leader’s involvement in such "exchanges" with Yanukovych's authorities is a detail that casts doubt on the sincerity of the opposition.

Less than half of promises fulfilled and expensive cars owned by his wife

"Slovo i Dilo" recorded that Kyrylenko fulfilled less than half of his election promises. His declaration lists two vehicles registered to his wife Zinaida: an Infiniti EX 25 (market value $18–20 thousand, or $77–80 thousand new) and a 2008 Hyundai Genesis ($13–14 thousand)—neither has a declared price specified.
