Batkivshchyna

The All-Ukrainian Union "Batkivshchyna" is one of the oldest political parties in Ukraine, founded in 1999. Since its inception, its consistent leader has been Yulia Tymoshenko, who has played a key role in shaping the party's political course. The political force positions itself as a democratic party with a patriotic-reformist approach and is consistently represented in various convocations of the Verkhovna Rada.

At the beginning of its activity, "Batkivshchyna" was part of pro-government coalitions, but after political conflicts, it moved into opposition. An important stage was the formation of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (BYuT), which achieved significant results in the 2006 and 2007 parliamentary elections. During this period, Tymoshenko served twice as Prime Minister, considerably increasing the party’s influence on state policy.

After 2010, amid political changes and the leader’s persecution, the party continued its activities as part of the united opposition. In 2014, following the Revolution of Dignity, "Batkivshchyna" participated in forming the new government, although some of its key members established a separate political force — the "People’s Front."

In the 2014 and 2019 elections, the party retained parliamentary representation, although with more modest results compared to earlier periods. At the same time, at the local level, it demonstrated stable support, securing thousands of mandates in councils of various levels.

In the current period, "Batkivshchyna" actively participates in the political process, putting forward initiatives concerning socio-economic policy, the land market, support for small businesses, and conducting referendums. The party also occupies an opposition stance on certain government decisions, maintaining influence among its electorate.
