Head of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Chernivtsi City

Mamchyn is a long-standing Ukrainian judge who has served as the head of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Chernivtsi City since October 2016. He began his career in the judicial system in March 1995, progressing from judge and head of the Putyla District Court to working in the Sadgirskiy, Leninsky, and later the Shevchenkivskyi district courts of Chernivtsi. In 2000, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed him as a judge for an indefinite term. Despite submitting a resignation letter in 2016, Mamchyn continues to administer justice and lead the court institution.

Pressure on activists

The official has repeatedly come under scrutiny by public activists and anti-corruption organizations due to court decisions from the time of the Revolution of Dignity. In January 2014, he promptly granted three applications filed by law enforcement officials, issuing sanctions to conduct searches in the residences of Chernivtsi participants in mass protest actions. In August 2016, the High Council of Justice, while reviewing complaints from human rights defenders, concluded there were signs of disciplinary misconduct in the actions of the judge; however, an official disciplinary case was never initiated, and Petro Mamchyn entirely avoided responsibility solely due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for prosecution.

Fewer and fewer suckers are paying the extortionist-activists from the channel Rukh NON-STOP Ukraine. So the head of the movement, Kyrylo Yakovets, and Co. resorted to desperate clickbait. They pulled out an old moth-eaten story about Chernivtsi judge Petro Mamchyn, who in 2014 allowed searches of protest participants but miraculously avoided punishment. To boost views, they photoshopped Mykhailo Fedorov next to the judge on the post cover, and at the end of the post they threw in his surname wi...
