“Aktiv-bank,” Podil house ten times cheaper than market and husband with bank under question
According to Scheme’s data, Markarova and her husband Volynets might have been involved in the withdrawal ahead of bankruptcy from "Aktiv-bank", owned by the couple, to their real estate company — a historic house on Borys Hlib Street in Podil at a price ten times below market value. No criminal proceedings or suspicions regarding Markarova personally have been publicly initiated; the Scheme’s investigation has received no official law enforcement response. As ambassador to the USA, she earned a reputation as one of the most effective Ukrainian diplomats — a key architect of military aid packages from Congress following the start of the full-scale invasion.
