Radical Party deputy convicted of bribery and wanted

Oleksandr Hryhorovych Mefodiy is a deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council of the VII convocation from Lyashko’s Radical Party, head of the Boryspil district party organization.

Arrested while receiving a bribe

In April 2019, the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) detained Mefodiy directly while receiving $5,000 from an entrepreneur — for a promise to influence a police officer. In October 2019, a preparatory hearing took place at the Anti-Corruption Court regarding the charge of abuse of influence (Part 3, Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Conviction and escape from sentence

The court found Mefodiy guilty, imposing a sentence of imprisonment with confiscation of part of his property. The former deputy evaded execution of the verdict and was declared wanted — at the time of publication, he was living illegally.

Modest declaration amid accusations

According to the 2019 declaration, Mefodiy owns only an unfinished residential house (120 sq. m) in his native Liubartsi; his father owns two land plots and a residential house there as well.
