About Radical Party of Oleh Liashko

The Radical Party of Oleh Liashko is known for its vivid and often provocative political behavior, using unconventional methods to attract attention, including public performances, loud statements, and political actions. In its speeches, the party has repeatedly put forward sharp and populist initiatives, among which are the creation of an "anti-corruption corps," the restoration of Ukraine's nuclear status, and the fight against the influence of oligarchs on state enterprises.

Despite this, the party’s activity has been accompanied by numerous scandals. Certain representatives of the political force were suspected of corruption offences, and the party itself was linked to financial support from large business groups. It was also noted that its leaders had an active media presence due to access to major information resources.

The party has a formal structure of branches throughout Ukraine, yet financial reports indicate weak institutionalization at the regional level. In elections over various years, the RPL showed varying results: in 2014 it passed the parliamentary threshold and received over 7% of the votes, forming a faction in the Verkhovna Rada, but in 2019 it failed to replicate this result.

In presidential elections, Oleh Liashko also showed different results, placing third in 2014 and seventh in 2019. In parliament, the party’s faction did not always demonstrate high activity in voting, and its political decisions sometimes coincided with the positions of other influential groups.

The party’s history began in 2010 with the creation of the Ukrainian Radical Democratic Party, which was later renamed and led by Oleh Liashko. Since then, the political force has tried to maintain recognizability through active media activity and loud rhetoric.

The party’s funding included both state funds and significant expenses on media presence, in particular television advertising, which constituted the main part of the budget during election campaigns.
