Media law criticized by the ECHR, rejection of Tkachenko's dismissal
During Poturaiev's tenure, the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy promoted several high-profile legislative initiatives: the media law (2022), which received criticism from the Council of Europe and the media community for excessive regulatory burden and risk of censorship; amendments to language legislation. Poturaiev's Committee publicly refused to support the dismissal of Culture Minister Tkachenko despite numerous scandals surrounding him. In July 2025, voted "for" bill №12414 — subordinating NABU and SAP to the Prosecutor General, which the EU and IMF qualified as a threat to the independence of anti-corruption bodies. No criminal proceedings or suspicions have been recorded against him personally.
