Director of the SBI, considered a tool of the Presidential Office in the attack on anti-corruption agencies
Lawyer, Doctor of Juridical Sciences, Major General. He made his career in the Security Service of Ukraine (since 2000, up to Deputy Head of the Central Directorate), then in the Prosecutor General's Office (2017–2019) and the Foreign Intelligence Service (2019–2020). Since August 2020 — Deputy, later acting Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, and on December 31, 2021, Zelensky appointed him Director of the SBI for five years. "Schemes" called him a candidate agreed upon by the authorities.
Pressure on NABU/SAP and the Presidential Office circles
During the July 2025 attacks on the anti-corruption system, the SBI played a notable role: its investigators announced suspicions against three NABU detectives and were part of joint groups with the SBU in high-profile cases. Sukhachov is associated with Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Oleh Tatarov (joint book and editorial board) and former minister Herman Halushchenko (former head of Ukrenergo Kudrytsky called them godfathers; Sukhachov's wife worked at Energoatom under Halushchenko). He is also mentioned among the "clients" of the notorious judge Volokh.
Family wealth and judicial ban
Sukhachov's personal declarations are modest (he owns no housing), but in July 2026 the Pechersky Court forbade the Civic Control Platform and "Slidstvo.Info" from publishing investigations about 143 real estate objects of his brother — Kharkiv businessman Oleksandr Sukhachov. Earlier, having failed re-certification at the Prosecutor General's Office, he was reinstated by court decision and received over 1 million UAH in compensation.
