Leader of "Batkivshchyna" under suspicion by NABU for systematic bribery of MPs after a 30-year career in gas schemes
Prime Minister of Ukraine twice (2005 and 2007–2010). Sentenced in 2011 to 7 years for "exceeding authority" during the signing of gas agreements with Russia; released in 2014 after the sentence was annulled. Presidential candidate in 2019 (15.95%). Leader of the "Batkivshchyna" party continuously since 1999. In the 1990s, headed the "United Energy Systems of Ukraine" — a gas supply monopoly company that became the basis for accusations of money laundering and the formation of the "gas princess" image.
Systematic bribe to MPs for voting, night raids, and "signed" the law on NABU/SAP dependency
On January 14, 2026, NABU and SAP handed Tymoshenko a suspicion notice under part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code: after the revelation in December 2025 of the scheme to buy votes of "SN" MPs (Kiselyov case and others), she initiated negotiations with deputies to introduce a systematic mechanism of advance payments in exchange for loyal voting — not one-time agreements but a long-term corruption system. On the night of January 14, over 30 armed law enforcement officers conducted searches at the "Batkivshchyna" office; phones, documents, and declared savings were seized. In the morning, Tymoshenko addressed the Parliament podium and called the searches an "illegal seizure." In July 2025, the "Batkivshchyna" faction — together with "SN" — voted for bill No. 12414 on subordinating NABU and SAP to the Prosecutor General; deputies Vlasenko and Tymoshenko were the main advocates of this law. Preventive measure — personal commitment; proceedings continue.
