Rocket engineer from Kuchma to Zelensky — head of Kharktron, deputy
Mykola Ivanovych Vakhnо began his career at Kharktron as an engineer. In 1992, he became deputy general director for financial and economic activities; in 2002, he headed the enterprise. In 2011, he became president and chairman of the board of PJSC Kharktron.
Official sources state that during this period he worked on the development of control systems for the SS-18 Satan ICBM. The American magazine Commentary in 2002 named Kharktron among enterprises that could have provided Baghdad with military technologies.

A deputy of the Kharkiv Regional Council, member of the permanent commission on industry, housing and communal services, and construction. NVP Kharktron-Arkos LTD — a structure associated with Vakhnо's enterprise — won a tender for a roll-call voting system for the Kharkiv Regional State Administration. The only competitor was a private entrepreneur who proposed a system for UAH 1 million.
