Border officer of "fire support," whose 1.25 bitcoins mysteriously disappeared

Head of the fire support organization sector of the operational management department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Not a general nor involved in high-profile smuggling cases — a mid-level career officer. Yet his 2024 declaration drew such attention from the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) that a full investigation lasted six months.

Millions "in crypto" that neither the exchange nor the State Bureau of Investigation could find

According to the NACP's conclusion, Voytenko provided false information amounting to 4.86 million UAH — the majority being "crypto." He declared 1.25 BTC on the MEXC exchange valued at 4.75 million UAH, but the agency could not verify these assets. Explanations were contradictory: in the declaration — "stored on the exchange," and verbally — "lost the Tangem hardware wallet along with the keys." According to the exchange itself and materials from the State Bureau of Investigation, there were no bitcoins in the account nor proof of purchase. Additionally, incomplete information about the apartment where his family lives. NACP saw signs of criminal declaration offenses. The bitcoins apparently existed only until the first inquiry.
