Academician, Vice Prime Minister from "Our Ukraine" dismissed amidst scandals

A prominent literary scholar and academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who combined a scientific career with political activity. People's Deputy of the IV convocation from Yushchenko's bloc "Our Ukraine," Chair of the Committee for the Shevchenko National Prize (2008–2010) — dismissed following a series of scandals. Wife's credit union and 25 million embezzlement

The reputation of Academician Zhulinsky served as a guarantee for the depositors of "Turbota" — the credit union headed by his wife. He personally attended the supervisory board. Halyna Stepanivna was involved in document forgery and embezzlement of 25 million UAH. The former Vice Prime Minister's wife was sentenced to five years for fraud.

From "Our Ukraine" to the pro-government faction

In 2006, he left the "Our Ukraine" faction and joined the pro-government faction "PPPUE" — which, considering his reputation as a "Yushchenko person," was seen as a notable step towards opportunistic loyalty.
